Today is my bookseller birthday! I have now worked at Book-ish for one year and it is truly the happiest I’ve ever been in a job. I feel so lucky to not only have a job that surrounds me with books and other readers but to also work with amazing people that I now count as some of my closest friends. Here are some of the Book-ish memories from the past year.
In my first few weeks – the new Book-ish family comes together.
So many events including from Richard Osman to Rick Stein to Kate Humble, to being part of the Crickhowell Literary Festival including interviewing Stacey Halls about Mrs England. Such a pinch-me moment!
The festive season – incredibly busy but we had time to make a wreath and have a glass of wine or two behind the scenes.
Celebrating Book-ish’s birthday!
I’m so happy I made the leap to become a bookseller. It’s better than I ever could have imagined and there’s a lot to be said for having a job where you never have the ‘dread’.
Changing jobs taught me a couple of things about myself. I can be brave and I can trust my instinct. I don’t always need to know how everything will work out. I also discovered that book people are the best people, which I kind of already knew. Plus, I need to read so many more books.
Your job sounds absolutely amazing, and I’m so glad it’s been everything you hoped it would be and more! Happy one year bookseller anniversary! 🥳📚🥳
