I don’t think I’m speaking out of turn when I say that, as a rule, bookworms are always on the lookout for their next read. Even when they’re opening a brand new book, or if the TBR pile threatens to tumble over at any second, the next read is never far from a book lovers mind. The choice can be overwhelming and going to buy books isn’t always easy. That’s where a book subscription box comes in.

No matter what your reading taste, there’ll be a book subscription for you. Some will be personalized to you and others will have a different theme for each box. Either way, you are guaranteed to receive a new book through the post once a month (sometimes with extra bookish treats too!). There are so many subscription boxes out there, so I thought I’d share some to help you decide.

1. Reposed

The Reposed subscription box is a luxury gift that doesn’t break the bank. For under £15 per month, you will receive a carefully chosen contemporary literary fiction book along with beautiful lifestyle items to create an elegant and relaxing evening. This includes things like high-quality chocolate and teas, beauty products and gorgeous stationery. You are also welcome to join the Reposed community and discuss books online with other members.

Prices start at £12.80 per month and you can subscribe here.

2. Wildest dreams

A very popular YA subscription box, Wildest Dreams provides a great selection of goodies for under £20. Each month has a different theme which all the products are centred on. You will receive a newly released YA book, a self-care product (such as a bath bomb), an exclusive print & bookmark, and bookish tea with teabags as standard, plus the website promises extra surprises. The boxes are beautiful and are carefully curated for each theme to provide an immersive reading experience.

Prices start at £16.66 per month (very specific) and you can subscribe here.

3. The Abominable Book Club

For thriller and horror fans The Abominable Book Club subscription box is jam-packed full of creepy delights. Each month you will receive three horror books. Three! That includes a new book, a secondhand book and an e-book code for an indie author or magazine. If that’s not enough you’ll also receive extra treats including a luxury snack. I discovered during my research that they are based in Wales so I wanted to shout out some fellow Welshies!

I’m struggling to find a price listed on the website but you can subscribe here.

4. Mr. B’s Reading Subscription

If you’re after something more bespoke, then look no further than this subscription box. If you’re not familiar with them, Mr B’s is a glorious bookshop based in Bath. One of the services they offer is a completely tailored book subscription service. You answer a couple of questions about your reading tastes, then one of their staff is chosen to be your bibliotherapist. Fancy, right? Each month they will choose a book catered to you. No extras but entirely personal service.

It’s £15 per month for 3 months and is cheaper if you do 6 or 11 months. You can subscribe here.

5. Books That Matter

Books That Matter is a feminist subscription box that focuses on championing women writers and inspiring people through their literature. Every month focuses on a different theme which aims to enlighten, educate and empower the readers. In your box, you will receive a book written by a female author along with at least three other gifts, all created by females. The boxes are perfect for those who love to support and celebrate the female experience.

Prices start at £17 per month and you can subscribe here.

6. Bookishly Classic of the Month

If one of your goals is to read more classics, then this is a great way to start. The Bookishly Classic of the Month subscription box unsurprisingly provides you one of literature’s best-loved classics with some extra goodies too. You will get some luxury tea or coffee and a beautifully designed box for that book. What gives it the edge (and stops you from just buying it for cheaper off Amazon) is that the book covers are exclusively designed for them so you won’t see them in shops. A great excuse for a new collection!

Prices start at £13 per month and you can subscribe here.
